 THE SEXTON BLAKE LIBRARY

POTPOURRI 3

LETTERS, HOUSE ADS etc.

part two

Below: cover (by Eric Parker) and a letter from no.441, December 1959.
Above: cover (again by Parker) and a letter from no.442, also December 1959.

Below: another party at Blakes's Baker Street HQ, this time to celebrate the 100th story in the New Order SBL in no.458 (Aug 1960). JTS is seen at far right with a glass in hand, unrecognisable in this Harry Fox picture if it were not for the handy key (below). This issue carried the story Large Type Killer, "based on a short story by Jack Trevor Story." The same tale turned up a while later as the novel Man Pinches Bottom, only  a lot better. The SBL version suffered the heavy re-writer's hand of Bill Baker.

Below: editorial from no.464 (Dec 1960).
